Welcome to the Flute Tutor Studio

Thank you for choosing The Flute Tutor Studio. Whether you are playing your first notes or preparing for auditions, competitions, college, or simply playing for the joy of music, lessons are tailored to your individual goals. Every student learns differently, and my goal is to provide an encouraging environment where confidence, curiosity, and musical expression can flourish.

My background is rooted in classical performance, while my teaching embraces flexibility, creativity, and the belief that music should be both challenging and enjoyable. This guide answers common questions and outlines studio expectations so we can focus on what matters most—making music together.

Studio Membership

Scheduling & Tuition

Lessons are offered on Mondays at Carlton’s Music and Wednesdays/Fridays at The Depot Arts District in 30- or 60-minute time slots. Enrollment is by semester.

Annual Registration Fee

An annual registration fee of $100 is required for all students. This fee must be received before a student is placed on the lesson schedule and is renewed each year by the student’s first lesson in June.

The registration fee is non-refundable and reserves the student’s place in The Flute Tutor Studio for the upcoming year. It also supports the many aspects of operating the studio outside of weekly lesson instruction, including:

  • Lesson scheduling and studio administration
  • Appointment management and communication
  • Time spent answering questions outside of lessons
  • Recitals and studio events
  • Professional memberships and continuing education
  • Studio software, apps, and administrative resources
  • Other tools and materials that enhance the student experience

For students who wish to begin lessons at a future date, payment of the registration fee reserves the requested lesson day and time until instruction begins.

Because lesson times are limited, a student’s place on the schedule cannot be guaranteed until the annual registration fee has been received.

Students that cannot commit to 2 hrs per month are considered ‘drop-in’ students and will not have a guaranteed space. You may contact me for availability.

Payment

Accepted payment methods include cash, check, and recurring PayPal AutoPay. Returned checks incur a $40 fee. Students with a history of late payments may be required to use AutoPay.

Staying Connected

Attendance

Regular attendance is essential. Make-up lessons are not guaranteed; however, with at least 48 hours’ notice, every reasonable effort will be made to schedule a make-up lesson if scheduling permits. Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice are not eligible for make-ups except for extenuating circumstances.

(Please do not come to your lesson if you suspect that you are ill!)

Virtual Lessons

If a student is mildly ill or unable to attend in person, a lesson may be conducted through Zoom or FaceTime when appropriate.

Summer Lessons

Summer lessons are part of the annual lesson program. Students may reschedule up to four summer lessons or continue monthly tuition to reserve their preferred time.

Release of Liability

By participating in studio activities, families agree to release and hold harmless The Flute Tutor Studio, Kay Endsley, Carlton’s Music, and the Lakeland Depot Arts District from liability except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.
